The Providence North Division spans four market areas, three in the Puget Sound and one in Alaska. With fragmented ambulatory locations, sub/post-acute care needs, and 13 hospitals ranging in size from urban tertiary centers to rural and critical access hospitals, Providence engaged The Innova Group to align and prioritize needs across the division while exploring optimization opportunities. The North Division team engaged Innova to develop a 10-year integrated market plan that ultimately achieves an EBIDA margin target of 8%, set by system leadership.
The Integrated Market Planning process was both bottom up and top down. We conducted over 50 leadership interviews with key clinical and administrative leaders to collect local market and system level perspectives. Local perspectives coupled with a market analysis, assessment of Providence’s current position, and a visioning session with Market Leaders, Innova was able to develop a planning hypothesis that focused on three overarching goals:
- Develop Highly Accessible Ambulatory Care Network
- Increase Network Integrity and Care Continuity
- Optimize Existing Clinical Programs and Facilities
